Seefeld Guides is a website created by Steve Rout - a qualified walking guide living in the Austrian Tyrol.
Steve spent more years than he would like to remember working in various branches of the travel business and in various different countries. He has been living in the Tyrol for more than 20 years and, over a decade ago, made the decision to set up on his own and start his own business.
Previously a qualified journalist in the UK, he became involved in online marketing with a particular interest and expertise in the travel sector. As much of that work takes place sitting on a chair in front of a computer screen, he took the decision to qualify as a ski instructor and as a Tyrolean mountain walking guide to keep up a certain level of outdoors activity (and to speak to real people in real life!).
He qualified as a ski instructor in 2002 and as a walking guide a year later. Since then Steve has worked as a walking guide, mainly in summer but increasingly in winter in later years, on the Seefeld plateau and other resorts in the Tyrol.
Seefeld Guides is designed to offer 'custom walks' to individuals, small or large groups or travel companies looking for a bespoke hiking guide service. One of the aims of this service is to show keen walkers the 'hidden treasures' of the plateau and nearby area which are often feature in advertising copy but are rarely visited!
Steve - and other guides which may be used by Seefeld Guides - have English as a mother tongue (or are fluent speakers), are qualified guides and are fluent in German and resident in the Tyrol.
